Annette Gunsberg, M.D.

Dr. Gunsberg chose her specialty in pediatrics because of her love for children. She feels that children have a positive outlook on life and are fun to work with. Dr. Gunsberg believes that open communication between doctor and patient is key to caring for families. She has worked with children most of her life and enjoys watching them grow.

Dr. Gunsberg is a graduate of the University of Texas in Austin and received her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center here in San Antonio. She also completed her residency in San Antonio, is Board Certified in Pediatrics and has been practicing for over 20 years.

Dr. Gunsberg has been an assistant professor at UTHSC and enjoys teaching medical students in her office.

Dr. Gunsberg and her husband, who is a family practice physician, have three children, 4 cats, and a duck. She enjoys an active lifestyle that is centered around her family.

Dr. Gunsberg cares for newborns at North Central Baptist hospital and sees patients from birth to 21.

Patricia Oliver, M. D.

Dr. Oliver has always wanted to be a pediatrician. She enjoys working with families to ensure the physical and emotional health of their children. Dr. Oliver remarks, “In what other professions will you be thanked and hugged for removing a hot pink Barbie bracelet from a nostril?”

Patricia Oliver grew up in Lakewood, Colorado and moved to Texas for middle school. She graduated from San Marcos High School and received her Bachelor’s degree in biology from Texas Christian University. Her medical degree and residency training were completed at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics.

Prior to coming to Stone Oak Pediatrics, Dr. Oliver has practiced in rural, suburban and pediatric allergy offices.

Dr. Oliver has 2 daughters, 1 son, 1 cat, and 3 dogs. Being a mom has enhanced her career as a pediatrician. She enjoys road biking and spending time with her family.

Monica Riojas, M. D.

Riojas

Dr. Riojas is a board certified pediatrician and joined the Stone Oak Pediatrics team in 2016. She grew up in Laredo, Texas and has been fortunate enough to have been exposed to diverse cultures throughout her career. She did her medical school training at the Universidad de Monterrey, Mexico, as well as Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. She then did her residency at Louisiana State University in New Orleans, LA, where she served as faculty and was an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics. During her time as faculty, she was honored with the Nicholas Gagliano, MD Outstanding Faculty Award.

Ultimately, Dr. Riojas moved back to Texas and found that San Antonio was the ideal city for her and her family's lifestyle. While in San Antonio, she had the opportunity and honor to serve our military families by working as a pediatrician in the pediatric clinics at Wilford Hall and SAMMC.

Dr. Riojas is passionate about her career as a pediatrician. Listening to her patients and family members, as well as communicating with them is of utmost importance to her. She finds great satisfaction knowing that she can help guide and take care of her patients. Being bilingual and fluent in both English and Spanish has been a beneficial factor to the care of her patients and has played an important role in her relationship with them.

Dr. Riojas is married and has 3 daughters, who she loves spending time with.
